In Which I Nominate Myself for a BBAW Award

My mum was in town this week, which is why I’ve been absent from blogland and am only now registering (on the very last day) for Book Blogger Appreciation Week, which is coming up soon (September 13-17).

It feels a bit weird to nominate myself for an award, but that’s the way it’s being done this year, so I figured why not? Here are my five posts for the Best Eclectic Book Blog category:

Review: Simon’s Cat by Simon Tofield (with cat pics) (comics)
Review: i am neurotic (and so are you) by Lianne Wong (humour)
On (Not Always) Finishing Mysteries (Two Reviews of Sorts) (mysteries)
Review: Piece by Piece: Stories about Fitting into Canada edited by Teresa Toten (YA essays)
Review: Getting a Grip 2: Clarity, Creativity and Courage for the World We Really Want by Frances Moore Lappé (politics)

Some thoughts on burnout, BBAW and blogging goals

It’s unlike me not to post on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, so I think can officially say that I’ve caught Blog Angst Flu, as Jen Robinson calls it. Or blogger burnout. Or in my case, maybe it should be called blogger paralysis, because every time I think about writing this post (or any post), I feel paralyzed and wind up doing something else (like reading other folks’ blogs, which is a great way to procrastinate!). Whatever you choose to call it, I’m in good company: Lenore, Wendy, Diane, Megan and Lilly have all recently blogged about this too.

So where to begin? Book Blogger Appreciation Week is hardly the beginning—I’m sure more than a few of you have noticed that I’ve fallen behind on reviewing and am failing to respond to most of the comments left on my blog. And this has been going on for a while now. However, though I enjoyed much of BBAW, I also completely identify with what Megan at Leafing Through Life said:

I see everybody’s sparkly blogs with their zillions of reviews, their thought-provoking posts, their book-reading totals at 100 or above for the year, their thoughtful and numerous comments on others’ blogs, and I know I can’t keep up, and then I wonder why I bother. What do I have to offer in the face of all that awesomeness?

And I know, I know, it’s not about comparing myself to others—I’m not out to write the best of anything; I really just want to add my voice to the chorus of book lovers out there and share my thoughts about books I love (and some I don’t). So what is it? I think it’s panic at the mounting pile of unreviewed (or unread) books, the 1000+ unread posts in my reader, all the comments I’ve received that I’m so happy to read but haven’t managed to respond to—in other words, the general feeling I have of being a bad blogger. And instead of doing anything about my mounting to-do list, I’ve been ignoring the problem. But if BBAW brought the issue to the fore for me, it also provided me with a glimmer of hope: I can set new goals for myself.

And so, inspired by three different bloggers, I’ve come up with three overlapping goals:

1. To keep blogging

Inspired by Lenore’s post, “The Future of Presenting Lenore,” my first and most encompassing goal is just to keep blogging. My task is to ignore the inner critic who says I’m not good enough or not doing enough (or have gotten so far behind as to be hopeless), and, as Elizabeth Smart said, “to bash on regardless.”

2. To reduce my post frequency

Jenners at Find Your Next Book Here recently posted about the kind of blogger she is (“steady, slow and loyal”) and I think I could learn from her example. I’ve therefore decided to limit myself to three or four posts per week: one book review, one “similar covers” post (because I love doing those!) and one bookish post or meme.

3. To catch up on my reviews

The Review Challenge buttonKay at The Infinite Shelf is running The Review Challenge for folks like me who are reading faster than they are reviewing. I desperately want to catch up so I can start the new year with a clean slate. Realistically, I’m not going to manage to review all the books I’ve read this year, but this challenge will prompt me to go through the pile and weed out the ones I don’t want to review (or don’t have to) and narrow my pile down to a more manageable size. Plus encouragement from others in the same boat will help.

Anybody else out there feeling overwhelmed too?

BBAW Appreciated in 2009 button

Given my feelings of overwhelm, I know it’s ridiculous that I’ve added to the 123 blogs that were already in my Google Reader, but I couldn’t help myself (this is what BBAW is all about after all). New additions to my reader include*:

A Book Blog. Period.
A High and Hidden Place: Tales of a Capricious Reader
Angieville
As Usual, I Need More Bookshelves
Book Addiction
Dolce Bellezza
falling into words
Jenn’s Bookshelves
Jen Robinson’s Book Page
Lit and Life
Nonsuch Book
Raging Bibliomania
Rhapsody in Books
Serendipitous Readings
Steph Su Reads
Stuff As Dreams Are Made On
The House of the Seven Tails
We Be Reading

BBAW is a great opportunity to meet new bloggers, and I’m hoping to find a few more favourites among these!

*I may have missed a few.

BBAW Day 4: Books discovered on other blogs

Book Blogger Appreciation Week button

Today’s topic is to blog about books we’ve read because we discovered them on other blogs. As many of you know, I’ve gotten into graphic novels and memoirs in a big way recently and since this genre is completely new to me, I of course turned to my fellow bloggers for book suggestions...

So far, my main sources of all things graphic novelish have been Nymeth at things mean a lot, who reviewed (and highly recommended) Salamander Dream by Hope Larson and recommended We Are on Our Own by Miriam Katin to me personally (she also has a great backlog of reviews of graphic novels that I need to go through); Marie at Boston Bibliophile, who reviewed Aya (vol. 1) by Marguerite Abouet and Clément Oubrerie (she also had a great Graphic Novel Monday series last year that I’ve been going through); and Johanna and friends at Comics Worth Reading (which I heard about on Nymeth’s blog), who reviewed The Plain Janes by Cecil Castellucci and Jim Rugg and has posted a great list of comics by women...

Salamander Dream by Hope LarsonAya by Marguerite Abouet and Clement OubrerieThe Plain Janes by Cecil Castellucci and Jim Rugg

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my local book-blogging buddies, Cindy of Cindy’s Love of Books, Donna of BookBound and Tina of Bookshipper (and now Linda at Better with Books), who supply me on a monthly basis with new books to read (not only do they recommend them but they also pass them along!). Although there are many I’ve gotten from them that I haven’t read yet (ahem), I happen to have read at least one from each of them. Tina gave me the fantastic The Heretic’s Daughter by Kathleen Kent, which was one of my favourite reads last year (I guest posted my review on her site); Cindy passed on Sister Wife by Shelley Hrdlitschka (which admittedly I didn’t like as much as she did); and Donna gave me Grave Surprise by Charlaine Harris, which I wasn’t sure would be my cup of tea, but I wound up loving!

BBAW Day 3: Reading meme

Book Blogger Appreciation Week button

Today’s assignment is a reading meme. I’m going to try to answer these questions as briefly as possible, although the recommended five words or less is pretty hard!

Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?

Chocolate (if I do snack, which is rarely).

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?

I’m horrified by the idea!

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying
the book flat open?

Bookmark (although many things serve as bookmarks in my world!)

Fiction, nonfiction, or both?

More fiction but both.

Hard copy or audiobooks?

Hard copy only.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?

If possible I read to the end of chapters (or sections of some kind).

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?

Nope, but I do write it down and look it up later. (I blame Kathy for this habit!)

What are you currently reading?

Fingerprints of God: The Search for the Science of Spirituality by Barbara Bradley Hagerty
Why I Hate Saturn by Kyle Baker

What is the last book you bought?

The Likeness by Tana French

Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one at a time?

Usually one, sometimes two, very rarely more.

Do you have a favorite time of day and/or place to read?

At night in bed probably, although I read just about anywhere.

Do you prefer series books or standalone books?

Standalone.

Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over?

Most recently, I’ve recommended No One You Know by Michelle Richmond to quite a few people, as well as Skim by Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki

How do you organize your books (by genre, title, author’s last name, etc.)?

By genre then alphabetically by author and by title.

BBAW Day 2: My interview with Hannah of About Books

Book Blogger Appreciation Week button

Welcome to Day 2 of the 2009 edition of Book Blogger Appreciation Week (BBAW)! Today is Interview Swap Day and I was paired up with Hannah of About Books, a teen blogger who blogs mostly about YA. Without further ado...

About Books user picWhat is the craziest place you’ve ever read?

My craziest place is also actually my favourite. My grandparents owned a narrow boat and for all of my childhood we’d go and stay on it for part of the summer. Because there’s not much room inside (and because there’s no point being on the canal if you stay inside), I would read lying on the roof of the boat. The sun makes the paint on the roof almost too hot to touch and it feels so lazy as you motor slowly down the canal. It’s one of my favourite things ever.

Do you judge a book by its cover?

Yes, I’m ashamed to say I do. Usually this just means that I’ll be more or less likely to pick it up based on its cover, but once I’ve picked it up I’ll flick through it and read the blurb and then decide whether or not to read it. Occasionally this means that I’ll finish the book and think disappointedly “well that didn’t live up to its cover.” Which I know is ridiculous. I feel very sad for good books with bad covers.

What do you do when you’re not reading or blogging?

I studied Graphics at school and still like to draw a lot, I do a fair bit of writing and I love taking photos. I go out with friends. I spend far too much time on the internet reading blogs and watching Youtube videos. I also procrastinate. Some people don’t think this is a pastime, but anyone who procrastinates a lot knows just how much time it takes up!

If you had to pick the 3 best books you’ve read this year, what would they be?

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen
The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner

None of those were actually published this year, come to think of it. If it had to be books published this year I think I’d go for:

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Willow by Julia Hoban

What is the most challenging aspect of blogging?

For me it’s actually sitting down and writing a review. Once I’ve started writing I don’t have too much trouble, but as I mentioned above, I have a tendency to procrastinate. So my main and only real problem is getting my bum in the chair. But having people read and appreciate the reviews more than makes up for the effort.

What is your favourite genre? Are there any genres you don’t read?

I’ll try pretty much anything. I don’t really read horror or hardcore romance, but apart from that I’m willing to give almost anything else a read. The genres I enjoy the most though are history and fantasy.

_____________________________________________________

I can completely identify with what Hannah says is the most challenging aspect of blogging! (I’m sure you’ve all figured out by now that I’m a procrastinator too.) Be sure to visit Hannah’s blog, About Books, and check out her interview of me. Thank you so much, Hannah!

BBAW Day 1: Spotlighting two of my favourite blogs

Book Blogger Appreciation Week button

Welcome to Day 1 of the 2009 edition of Book Blogger Appreciation Week (BBAW)! My regular programming (such as it is) will be interrupted this week as I participate in BBAW activities all week long, including posting my answers to the daily writing prompts listed on the BBAW site.

I have a whopping 123 book blogs in my Google Reader at the moment, of which 20 so far have found their way into my Favourites folder. So when Amy announced that today’s assignment was to “write a post thanking and spotlighting [our] favorite blogs that didn’t make the shortlists,” I had a great many to choose from.

The two I’ve decided to spotlight are The Infinite Shelf and Today’s Adventure, both of which I nominated for BBAW awards, but which unfortunately were not shortlisted.

The Infinite Shelf, written by Kay, a fellow Montrealer, is just such a pleasure to visit. I love the look of her blog, especially the slightly cranky-looking girl in her header and her faithful black cat companion, but I’m also impressed by the fact that Kay has come up with names for her features that match her blog name: Filling the Shelf for her Mailbox Monday posts, The Artsy Shelf for her series on similar covers and The Fan Shelf in which she presents bookish people or things she’s a fan of (which may or may not become a regular feature). Although Kay’s taste in books doesn’t overlap with mine much at all (I’ve only read one of the books she’s read since she began blogging: The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath), I still enjoy reading her reviews. And at least one of them, her review of An Abundance of Katherines by John Green, inspired me to put the book on my wish list. However, I must admit that my favourite part of Kay’s blog is her comics! She modestly claims that she’s no good at drawing, but I think she’s really talented. Check out my faves: A Book Blogger’s Free Day and The Ultimate Showdown. Aren’t they cute (and so true to life as a book blogger)?

Today’s Adventure, written by Vanessa aka NotNessie, is another one of my favourites. Although I thought the previous incarnation of this blog looked great too, there’s no denying that her current look is very classy. And yet one of the reasons I love Vanessa’s blog so much is because of her very down-to-earth and chatty style. Reading her reviews makes me feel like I’m listening to a friend and she’s just as warm and welcoming by email. Like Kay, Vanessa tends to review books I wouldn’t normally read, but her reviews have prompted me to add quite a few to my wish list. One of these is her review for The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong. Vanessa also writes a great series she calls “Slightly Off Topic,” in which she has discussed everything from What Blurbs Really Say about a Book to The Three Deadly Sins of Series (a particularly great post!) to Cover Lookalikes.

I didn’t do it on purpose but there are some striking similarities between the two blogs I’ve chosen to feature today: both have fantastic designs, are written by Canadian women, feature regular or semi-regular posts about lookalikes (something I’m a little obsessed with) and interestingly enough, neither review the types of books I would usually gravitate towards...

I’m looking forward to discovering yet more awesome book blogs this week!

Book Blogger Appreciation Week meme

Book Blogger Appreciation Week button
I’ve been meaning to post about Book Blogger Appreciation Week (BBAW) ever since Amy at My Friend Amy announced that the second annual BBAW was happening from September 14 to 18 this year. If you haven’t already done so, it’s not too late to register for BBAW and nominate your favourite blogs (you have until August 15). Once you’ve registered, you can participate in the BBAW meme (though if this is your first time, there’s a different set of questions for newbies). Here are my answers to the questions for veteran BBAW participants...

What was the highlight (something that happened, a post, an activity, etc.) of BBAW for you last year?

I had just started blogging when I participated in BBAW last year and the highlight was definitely feeling like I’d found my community. Not only did BBAW put me on the map, so to speak (before BBAW, I only had about a dozen visitors per day), it also introduced me to lots of fantastic bloggers.

Interviewing Shana from Literarily (now sadly defunct) was also a real treat—coincidentally, she happened to be the first person who had ever commented on my blog.

What is one new blog you discovered during BBAW last year?

This is a tough question to answer as I discovered dozens of blogs during BBAW. I did highlight a couple of blogs I love and appreciate on day 1 of BBAW last year and mentioned a few others in my BBAW wrap-up post. Of these, one of my favourites (just to pick one) is bookgirl’s nightstand, written by the talented Iliana.

What tips would you share to help others get the most out of their BBAW experience?

Don’t be shy to join in the fun, but also be aware you probably won’t be able to participate in everything that’s going on. Although I am considering taking another week off work in September...

BBAW wrap-up and thank you, Amy!

Although I didn’t post for the last three days of BBAW, I wanted to mention a few of the great new (to me) blogs I discovered during that week:

A Girl Walks into a Bookstore
A Reader’s Respite
At Home with Books
B&b ex libris
Book Chatter
Bookgirl’s Nightstand
In Spring it is the Dawn
No More Grumpy Bookseller
Ramya’s Bookshelf
Reading in Appalachia
She Is Too Fond of Books
Shooting Star Mags
The Library Ladder

Check them out! (These are obviously only a few of all the fabulous book blogs out there!)

I also wanted to add my voice to all the bloggers thanking Amy...

This summer, after book blogging was patronized and criticized in the mainstream media, Amy from My Friend Amy made a suggestion that we celebrate book blogging. From that idea, Book Blogger Appreciation Week was born. Many of us have participated in interviews, contests, giveaways, and through awards, but this would never have happened were it not for the dream, perseverance, planning, hard work and dedication of Amy. This has been a wonderful week and as members of the book blogging community, in one voice we want to thank Amy for all that she has done.

Amy, you are truly the Queen of Book Bloggers and we love you!

Thank you, Amy, for making BBAW such a fun experience!

Finally, my apologies to everyone who has commented on my blog in the last week. I will (hopefully this week!) get around to replying to all your lovely comments. Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you’ll continue to read it!

Edited on September 23 to add:
This is embarrassing, but I just realized last night that I forgot to congratulate all the BBAW award winners! So this is me belatedly congratulating you all!

BBAW giveaway update...

Sorry folks, for not having announced the winners yet! It’s taking me longer than anticipated to tabulate all the entries I got (plus life is getting in the way of blogging). I will announce the winners soon, I promise!

BBAW Day 2: An interview with Shana of Literarily

I was thrilled to hear from Amy that I’d been paired with Shana of Literarily for the BBAW interview—I’d been hesitant to sign up for this part of BBAW because I’ve never done an interview before and felt a bit intimidated by the process. But Shana was someone I already felt comfortable with—after all, she was the first person to comment on my new blog! She also writes one of my favourite blogs—and has been nominated for a BBAW award in the Best Literary Fiction Blog category.

Avis: When did you start your blog? And, more importantly, why?

Shana: I started Literarily on June 11, 2008.

I had started another book blog a month or so earlier, with plans for it to be a community blog for the town in which I live. I planned to recruit other readers to write reviews. I live in a town of 6,500 and there are at least four active book groups, so I thought it would be fun to share reviews. That concept is still mostly in my head, and in the meantime, I started Literarily for my own reviews and book-related musings so that the original blog wasn’t just me, me, and more me.

Literarily quickly grew from there and right now, it’s taking up most of my online time, which is very limited with three kids. So the other blog is languishing but I’m having loads of fun with Literarily.

Secondary reasons:
  • I wanted to share my thoughts about books with others who love them as much as I do, instead of babbling on to the non-readers or less enthusiastic readers in my life and watching their eyes glaze over.
  • I love to write as a way of digesting my life. The very act of writing is calming and helps me make sense of things. This carries over into my reading. Writing a review is my way of figuring out what I really thought about a book, what I liked and what I didn’t.
  • I had been regularly reading Books on the Brain, The Literate Housewife, and Booking Mama for several months and was inspired by them.
Avis: How has your blog evolved since the beginning, in terms of both content and design?

Shana: My design has not changed much, but it might soon (hint, hint).

In terms of content, it is constantly evolving as I try to make it better.

I’ve tweaked my review format—I’m a tinkerer—since the beginning. Instead of writing the summary, I use the most accurate one (in my eyes) I can find online. I just figured the summary is already out there in several places, so why spend my time reinventing the wheel, so to speak. It allows me to focus more on conveying my thoughts about the book, which is what I think people are looking for in a review anyway.

The one exception is the reviews I write for my local paper, the most recent one being my review of Night of Flames by Douglas W. Jacobson. In those cases, I write the summary as well as, of course, the opinion portion.

Avis: Have your reading habits changed since you started blogging? Do you read more or less? Has what you read changed now that you’re blogging about books?

Shana: Yes! How much I read hasn’t changed as much as what I read. I’ve always had diverse taste in books but I’ve expanded my horizons even more now that I’m blogging.

Avis: When do you blog? Do you dedicate a certain time of day to blogging? How much time, on average, per day do you spend working on your blog?

Shana: I usually blog when my kids are sleeping, so usually at night. Sometimes, I’ll write a post when they’re napping. Most days, I spend an hour or two on my blog. That includes responding to comments as well as writing posts.

Avis: Do your family and friends read your blog on a regular basis?

Shana: I’m not sure. Some do, I think. I’m kind of afraid to ask. What if they say no?

Avis: If you had to pick the three best books you’ve read so far this year, what would they be?

Shana: Okay, I know I’m the one who came up with this question, but what was I thinking??? There is no way I can pick three. I even tried to narrow it down to 10 and it was impossible. Fortunately, I like most books I read and end up loving quite a few of them.

Avis: What is the craziest place you’ve ever read?

Shana: I’ve read at football games. My husband walked on at the University of Nebraska and remains a HUGE fan to this day. We have season tickets and he goes to most of the games. I go to one or two with him. I’ve been known to hide a book in my bag and sneak out to read when I get bored with the game. Shhhh—my husband doesn’t know... he thinks it was just a frighteningly long trip to the restroom!

Avis: How many books are in your TBR pile?

Shana: Around 50.

Avis: What is the most challenging aspect of blogging?

Shana: Definitely, finding time to do it.

The second most challenging aspect would be keeping organized. There are posts I want to write, usually weekly community events (Sunday Salon, Mailbox Monday, Tuesday Teasers, Friday Finds, Weekly Geeks) that I would love to participate in but sometimes I get busy and forget to write them.

Avis: What’s been the best experience you’d had since you started blogging about books?

Shana: I think the best experience has been meeting fellow bloggers who are so generous and wonderful that they offer to send me books they know I’d like to read, not because I won a contest or challenge or giveaway, but just out of the goodness of their hearts (Jennifer, Marcia, Becca... I’m talking about you!)

A tie would be finding out how wonderful authors are. As avid readers, they are god-like figures to us. Definitely up on a pedestal (and a well-deserved one at that!) But since I’ve been blogging, I’ve found out that these very talented people are also kind, generous and down-to-earth. Elizabeth Brundage and Lesley Kagen come to mind—I was already a huge fan of their writing but have since discovered there is an awesome person behind the book. The same goes for several people I’ve met in the book industry—publishers and publicists.

Being nominated for a BBAW award was pretty awesome, too. I hate to sound cliché, but that nomination absolutely shocked me, and no matter what the results of the voting, I’m thrilled and honored beyond belief to have been nominated at all.

Avis: If you could give just one piece of advice to new bloggers, what would it be? (This was a bonus question for Shana as the “senior” blogger of the two of us.)

Shana: Well, if I were to choose just one, I’d say to learn from other bloggers. Like I said, I read Books on the Brain, The Literate Housewife and Booking Mama for several months before starting my own blog and they remain my role models. Also, J. Kaye at J. Kaye’s Book Blog has taught me so much, like always responding to comments, leaving comments for others, participating in community events, etc. It’s true that readers make the blog, and always showing them how much you respect and appreciate them is very, very important.

Thank you so much, Shana, for this great interview experience! Visit Shana’s blog to read her interview of me and Amys blog to read other BBAW interviews (scroll down to the links at the bottom of her post).

BBAW Day 1: Blogs I love and appreciate

It’s Day 1 of Book Blogger Appreciation Week and Amy over at My Friend Amy has asked us to write a post highlighting the book blogs we love to read that didn’t make the list of nominations.

With nearly 100 blogs in my Google Reader, most of which are book blogs, there are lots of great ones to choose from and since I’m kinda late with this, I’ll stick to three of my favourites...

One of the first people to comment on my blog was iubookgirl at Reader for Life, another recent blogger and fellow Library Thinger. She writes the kind of reviews I like to read (and try to write): short and with barely any mention of plot, but with just the right amount of detail for me to be able to determine whether I’d like the book.

Another much more recent discovery is Redlady’s Reading Room, written by Bonnie, another LTer. Our tastes in books don’t overlap as much as mine and iubookgirl’s do, but that also means we aren’t as likely to be reviewing the same books. I love her exuberance and enthusiasm, which shine through her posts.

Finally, for something a bit different, head over to 1st Books: Stories of How Writers Get Started. This is Meg Waite Clayton’s blog (author of The Wednesday Sisters) but it’s not strictly an author blog; rather it’s a blog where authors guest post about their experience of first getting published. And despite the fact that all the stories illustrate how much hard work is involved in making that happen, every single post is inspiring.

Thank you to all my fellow book bloggers!

5 days, 5 books, 5 ways to enter my BBAW giveaway!

In honour of Book Blogger Appreciation Week (BBAW), which officially starts today, and to celebrate my first two months of blogging, I’m giving away the following five books to five lucky readers:

(Click on each book to read my review* except for the last one, which will take you to LibraryThing reviews.)

To enter the contest:

For one entry, leave a comment on this post indicating which of these books you are interested in (you can pick just one or all five or any number in between—just be sure to put them in order of preference).

For another entry, blog about this contest and leave a direct link to your post in the comments here. (If you don’t have a blog, send an email to five friends telling them about this contest. Be sure to cc me at shereadsandreads[at]gmail[dot]com.)

For another entry, leave me a comment with a link to one of your favourite book blogs (with thanks to Wendy at caribousmom for this idea).

For another entry, leave a comment anywhere on my blog, except BBAW-related posts. (Any comments on these posts will not count towards an entry.) Each comment you leave will count towards one more entry. Please try to be creative in your comments! Note that any comments on my interview with Shana will count towards an entry in the contest!

For another entry, visit and comment on a book blog you discovered during BBAW and leave a direct link to the relevant post in the comments here (with thanks to Bookroom Reviews for this idea). Be sure to leave me a link to the actual post and not to the blog itself.

If you do all five you will receive five entries (or more depending on how many comments you leave)!

I will accept entries until Saturday, September 20, at 11:59 EDT. Contest is open to Canadian and U.S. residents only. Five different winners will be picked using Random.org and announced on Sunday, September 21. Please make sure I have a way of contacting you!
