Book/blog stats for April 2009

April was a more standard month for me as I only read five books (as opposed to the 10 I read last month). As for reviews, I only managed to write three, which means I’m more behind than ever. The books I read were:
Between Friends: A Year in Letters by Oonagh Berry and Helen Levine (read guest review)
Giving Up: The Last Days of Sylvia Plath by Jillian Becker
A Troubled Guest: Life and Death Stories by Nancy Mairs
Crossed Wires by Rosy Thornton
The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie

I reviewed these books (click on links for reviews):
Acedia & Me: A Marriage, Monks, and a Writer’s Life by Kathleen Norris
In the Woods by Tana French
Pathologies: A Life in Essays by Susan Olding

I enjoyed all the books I read this month; the only one that disappointed me a bit was Giving Up: The Last Days of Sylvia Plath.

Of those I reviewed, the best was definitely Pathologies: A Life in Essays by Susan Olding.

If you missed any of my “similar covers” posts this month, they were:
Backs of women’s heads
Familiar dresses
A couple more similar covers
Love and coffee
Girl in pigtails

Hmm, those posts are obviously easier to write than reviews!

A few blog stats:

Increase in number of unique visitors (compared to March): -21% (no giveaway this month!)

These visitors hail from 31 different countries (the U.S., Canada and the U.K. being the top three). I’ve had visitors from 46 regions of the U.S. (every state except Montana, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Dakota and Vermont; top state: California) and 45 Canadian cities.

Top viewed post: More awards!

Number of books acquired: 14

My plan was to review two books a week this past month, which I clearly didn’t do!

What good books did you read last month? Do you also have a stack of read-but-not-reviewed books or do you keep on top of your pile?

  1. My review is up on my page...

I would also love to read two books a week but I have realized this will have to wait for summer break lol. That's sweet that you have a visitor from almost every state.... it must be because your such an amazing blogger! ;)

  2. I just love these types of posts for some reason ...must be the organizer in me! And I'm not the fastest reviewer either!

  3. i love the lowdown...i haven't done much reading this month--maybe 7 books? i've decided to commit to 1 review per week (and even put a text widget on my blog to keep me on track). if i get to do more, so be it...if not, at least i'm doing one each week.

i haven't read anything you've read, which only illustrates how many books out there that i have to add to the scroll that is my TBR list.

  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one behind on writing reviews.

  7. You are so sweet, Jessica Marie! Yeah, I'm realizing that two reviews a week is just not realistic. I'm having enough trouble writing just the one!

Jenners, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!

Natalie (booklineandsinker), I've realized that I'm feeling overwhelmed by the number of books I need to review, which basically prevents me from writing any reviews (definitely not good!). I may have to decide that I'm just not going to review every single book I read.

    Melissa, me too!

Thank you, Sadako! They've become one of my favourite posts to write!

    Thanks, Anna!
