Similar Covers: Repeats

Here are two lots of covers that I’ve featured before (twice each in fact), but I keep finding more to add to each collection!

First, the famous dresses that started my lookalike obsession. I’ve featured four of these covers before, but have since found two more:

The books are:
The second series actually uses a combination of two different stock photos: one of a woman sitting on a suitcase in the middle of a road and the other of a woman running down the middle of a road... I’ve featured three of these covers before, but have since found two more (I’ve included Leaving Unknown twice since it belongs to both sets):

The books are:I like these covers because each is unique: even the ones that are very similar (the first two in each set) are different colours. My favourites are The Honey Thief (which coincidentally is the only book I own out of all of these) and Leaving Unknown.

  1. That first set... nearly all of them are horrible from a design standpoint. The second set is much more appealing visually and although the same image is used, they seem different enough.

  2. I'm not crazy about any of the covers. I'm amazed that they keep using the same image over and over.

  3. I'm always a sucker for suitcase and girl-in-the-road-with-suitcase covers -- maybe it's wishful thinking on my part!

  4. I'm always fascinated by how lookalikes happen. Out of the millions of images out there, I find it incredibly confusing that the same ones appear again and again.

I'm with Audra. A suitcase and a girl turns me into a sucker too.

  5. I'm so glad your obsession with lookalike covers started. These posts are always so fun. I do agree with you that, despite featuring the same photo, the girl running looks very different.

  6. I am always amazed at how often a photo is used in the publishing industry.
