I received two books for review this past week: The Distant Hours by Kate Morton from Atria Books and What I Thought I Knew by Alice Eve Cohen from BookSparksPR and Penguin USA.
As I mentioned last week, I was in Quebec City this weekend to go to another bookfair, and I came home with another mega pile of books:
The books are:
I also picked up a couple of other books for other people, for a total of 22 books for $26! (All books were $1, except for Why I’m Like This, which was $5.)
Have you read any of these books? Which would you recommend or disrecommend?

Wow! Your mailbox was full LOL! I'm just finishing this Angie Fox series http://blog.juliealindsey.com/ However, I am excited to say that I won a copy of the Pink Locker Society and I hope to find that in my mailbox next week!
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like you got a great bunch of books at the book fair!
ReplyDeleteWhat a steal! It looks like there are some gems in that pile and you really can't beat $1 books! Congrats on all the new loot. I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteI've read quite a few of them and honestly I think you bought all winners!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW - what a great selection of books. I have read a few of these, Still Alice is wonderful. What I thought I knew is a shockingly personal memoir that you have to read!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of those books but I think they all look good! What a great deal and such good titles too! Which one will you read first?
ReplyDeleteAvis, I love how how did that book collage! Enjoy your new books.
ReplyDeleteI read The Reader years ago and thought it was pretty good. I'm on the blog tour for What I Thought I Knew - wow, what a riveting story!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of books! I cant wait for The Distant Hours.
ReplyDeleteWow, you bought some great books. Still Alice is an amazing read! Enjoy. I have the Distant Hours waiting to be read as well.
ReplyDeletelooks like you're stocked up for the winter with this haul! enjoy the reads. :)
ReplyDeleteThose look fantastic! I've read Shadow's End and Still Alice. It's been a long time since I've read Shadow's End, but I generally love Sheri Tepper's writing. Her books usually have some odd fantasy twist, but I've found that if I stick around to the end of her stories it's worth it. My personal favorite of hers is The Gate to Women's Country.
ReplyDeleteStill Alice was a haunting read, and I think of it whenever I forget something that should be obvious to me.
I'm embarrassed to say that of that long list, I've only read Still Alice! Good book. My husband thought it was a good read too.
ReplyDeleteDifficult to pass up a stack of books at that price. I haven't read any of them. I did get The Distant Hours for review. It's in line behind a couple of other review books.
ReplyDeleteWhat great looking books! The one that stands out for me is Still Alice. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great list of books! I have The Distant Hours slated for review next week when it releases (I really can't wait to get to it, but it's third in the review pile!)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say that I read any of the books that you got from the fair, but you definitely got a load of loot at a great price!
Enjoy all of the reads!

Wow! How will you decide what to read first?!? The Distant Hours sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteThe Distant Hours looks so inviting to me. I just love the color of the cover. It's awesome you receivged this book in the mail. I have yet to read one of Kate Morton's books but I am determined to read one before January ends. I'm hoping to read Distand Hours but it really doesn't matter. All of her books sound good.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great books at the fair! I liked The Year of the Fog for the most part. I want to read Still Alice sooner rather than later. I haven't read the Dani Shapiro book in this list but I think she's a great writer. I hope Family History is good. I read The Reader many years ago. I liked it although at times it was a little dry and the characters weren't as personable as I like. But it's definitely an nteresting story line! Temple Grandin's book is really interesting and quite good!
Enjoy all of your new books! What fun you have a head of you!
All I can say is "Wow, what a haul!" I am completely jealous you have the new Kate Morton. I just can't wait to read it, I hope you love it. There are so many books you have on my list. I look forward to hear what you think. I really want to read Still Alive and Why I'm like This.
ReplyDeleteHave fun reading!
Wow, what a great haul! I loved Year of Fog...hope you do too :)
