A Very Belated, Better-Late-Than-Never BEA 2010 Post: Photos

I had every intention of doing a proper write-up of my BEA/BBC experiences, but since I got back from New York two months ago now, I’m (finally) going to give you the brief version, in photos. (Click on any photo to enlarge.)

My first day at the Javits Center was overwhelming...

The autograph area was completely mad... (I only ventured there on the second day, when there were fewer people.)

Amy (Amy Reads), Trish (eclectic/eccentric), Megan (Leafing Through Life), Amanda (The Zen Leaf) and I had dinner at an Indian place near Times Square...

Later that same evening, I met Wendy (Caribousmom) and her husband, along with a great many other bloggers, at the Celebration of Book Bloggers hosted by Harper Collins at the Algonquin Hotel (where the famous Algonquin Round Table used to meet)...

The following night, Cindy (Cindy’s Love of Books), Linda (Better with Books) and I had dinner with Kathy (Bermudaonion’s Weblog)... (This is not a great picture of Kathy and me, but it’s the best of the lot!)

After dinner, we wandered around Times Square, where Kathy took this picture of Cindy, Linda and me...

It’s shameful that I didn’t take more pictures! (I don’t know what I was thinking.) After Book Blogger Con, as I was heading back towards my hotel with Melissa (The Betty and Boo Chronicles), I took this final picture of the Javits Center...

There are so many bloggers* I met but didn’t get pictures of:

Next time, I’ll try to write my posts while I’m still in New York!

*If I’ve omitted you from my list, please forgive me (and let me know, so I can add you)!

With thanks to Amanda and Trisha for inspiring the layout of this post!

  1. The autographing area was a madhouse this year - it was set up much better last year. Our picture's not so great because we got caught out in the rain. That didn't keep me from enjoying the evening, though.

  2. That picture really brought back memories! It was great meeting you.

  3. I agree with Trisha - great memories!

If I make it next year, I hope to bring my laptop with me so I can do some posting while I'm there!

  4. Wow, looks and sounds like fun. I'd love to attend next year!

  5. Hey, I recognize that photo! :) Thanks for accompanying me on the walk to Penn Station. It was great to meet you!

  6. Glad I got the chance to meet you at BEA and chat for a bit about duplicate covers :) That's a great photo of the exhibit hall, and yes, walking through the autographing area was absolutely insane.

  7. how fun! i didn't go to bea this year, but i love reading everyone's recaps and looking at their pictures.

  8. Great pictures! I agree: better late than never!!~!

  9. Kathy, I'm so glad I finally got to meet you! I think that picture is mostly not so great because I've got a weird upside-down smile on my face!

Trish, I'm glad we met too, which also introduced me to your great blog!

Amanda, I brought my laptop, but it turns out I don't know how to use it properly -- I was never able to connect to the Internet, which was so frustrating! For my next BEA trip, I want a netbook!

Kathleen, I'd love to meet you there if we both go next year!

Melissa, I'm kinda upset with myself for taking a photo of the building instead of getting someone to take a photo of the two of us!

Sarah, it was great to chat with you! I confess I copied the photo of the exhibit hall from BEA's Facebook page... I was very glad the autograph area was less of a zoo on the second day; I probably wouldn't have gotten any of my books autographed otherwise.

Toothy, any chance you might make it next year?

I'm glad you agree, Jill -- I definitely hesitated before hitting Publish. I feel a bit silly for taking so long to write this post!

  10. The shots that you did were great! I didn't take any pictures at all, didn't even bother with the camera. I was overwhelmed with all of the running around that I did. Luckily a few shots popped up of me here and there.

  11. Lovely pictures! It was great to meet you :)

  12. I loved reading this and seeing your photos; great pictures of all of you.

  13. At least you took pictures. I didn't take any!

  14. It was so great to meet you too, Avis!!!

  15. Oh yay! I never get tired of BEA posts! :D They just make me want to go back right now! It was so fun meeting you and I am already pumped for next year!

  16. Wow! Thanks for the photos!!! Looks like you had loads of fun.
I just started my own blog. Please stop by if you can. Thank you

  17. I looks like you had a great time. I am pretty sure I will be attending next year. It would be great to meet you f2f.

  18. I had grand plans of a post BEA post but it didn't happen . . . .It was great to meet you at the event at the Algonquin!

  19. Thanks, Nicole. I somehow managed to only take 11 pictures the whole time I was in NYC (and in fact only took two of the shots above, though a few more were taken with my camera)!

Amy, it was great to meet you too! (Oh and I may be in PEI sometime in October...)

    Thanks, Diane!

Pam, but you vlogged, which is almost better than taking pictures!

Sheila, I want to go back too! I'm not sure I'll make it next year though... :(

Thanks for stopping by,Misha. I'll check out your blog!

I hope to make it next year, Teddy Rose, although I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it. If we both go, I'd love to meet you!

Colleen, as you can see, I think it's better late than never! (In other words, you could still do a post-BEA post...)

  20. Wendy, I didn't mean to skip over your comment! That night at the Algonquin was one of the highlights of my trip. I hope we get a chance to gab in person again some day!

  21. It is always fun to see photos of bloggers and put a face with a name! And better late than never, right?
