Two books that I won during blogiversary giveaways arrived in the mail this week: The Geography of Love: A Memoir by Glenda Burgess, which I won from Carrie at Books and Movies, and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See, which I won from J.T. Oldfield at Bibliofreakblog. Both Carrie and J.T. were celebrating their first-year anniversaries (although Carrie had blogged elsewhere before).

ReplyDeleteI gave your blog an award today! Please stop by Bibliophiliac and pick it up!
ReplyDeleteI really got involved in "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan." I think you'll like it ... but be prepared for some graphic information on foot binding.
ReplyDeleteSnowflower was one of my favorite reads a couple of years ago - I loved it. Hope you do too :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Snow Flower...the other one looks great too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chocolate. It arrived today and I'm so excited to taste the one with lavender. You are a sweetheart!!!
I have Snow Flower and have heard it is great. I hope you like it.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be the dissenting voice in your commenters and admit I didn't enjoy Snow Flower that much (despite reading the whole thing in on one gloriously lazy January 1st). There was something about the writing that bugged me during the whole book (a lack of literary quality of some kind, or perhaps I just was expecting too much). But the subject itself was fascinating... I'd love to hear what you thought!
ReplyDeleteI've mostly only heard good things about Snow Flower, so I hope I enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteBibliophiliac, thank you so much for the award!
Jenners, thanks for the warning, I really appreciate it!
Staci, I'm so glad to hear that the chocolate made it to you! I hope you enjoy it.
Michelle, I remember that you had disrecommended Snow Flower, but I've since read so many rave reviews that I thought I'd give it a try!
Enjoy your new books! I bought Snow Flower at a recent library sale, but haven't read it yet.
ReplyDelete--Anna
