Similar Covers: Kids on Swings

The covers below are not exact matches but they all use the same concept: one or two kids on a swing with nothing else on the cover (except clouds in some cases). The first three in particular are eerily similar. I must admit that seeing them all grouped together like this makes me feel a bit dizzy!

The books are: Before I Wake by Robert J. Wiersema, Oystercatchers by Susan Fletcher (which has been featured before in a similar cover post), Shade by Neil Jordan, the German translation of Still Missing by Beth Gutcheon and Yesterday Morning: A Very English Childhood by Diana Athill.

I found three more: Suffer the Children: The Case Against Labeling and Medicating and an Effective Alternative by Marilyn Wedge (which will be published in March 2011), Touchy Subjects: Stories by Emma Donoghue and Le Vol du corbeau (the French translation of The Way the Crow Flies, which has been featured in this “similar covers” post) by Ann-Marie MacDonald.

    It seems like I have, but I can't think of the title. Swinging makes me think of freedom and summer, so I can see why they think it makes a good book cover.

    Gosh. I sure wish there was a swing around. I have the urge to swing to my heart's content after viewing these.

    I feel as if I have seen some too but like Kathy, I cannot remember where or when. I really don't know how you keep track of all this. You must have a notebook or something that you take notes in. If it's by memory then my hat goes off to ya!

    How funny that they all seem alike and yet there's only one that would really make me pick up the book based on the cover. That Neil Jordan one really stands out. It's gorgeous. (The Susan Fletcher looks nice, too.)

    Claire, the Neil Jordan one is my favourite too and the Susan Fletcher would be my second choice as well. I also like the image used on the Wiersema book, but the title font is horrible.

    These all look so familiar but I don't recognize any of the titles. Though I have read one of Beth Gutcheon's books before and loved it. I think it was called More Than You Know.
