Remember Those Pointed-in Red Shoes?

It turns out there’s another matching cover! This time it’s Confessions of a First Daughter by Cassidy Calloway. This book hasn’t been published yet (it’s due out in September), so here’s hoping they’ll change the cover!

My other posts that mention similar covers to these two are Lookalikes of Lookalikes and Lookalikes of Lookalikes 2.

With thanks to Lauren at Lauren’s Crammed Bookshelf, who mentioned this book in her Waiting on Wednesday post yesterday.

  1. You've got a good eye! I don't understand the trend of taking photos and chopping off the heads or other body parts, though.

  2. I never knew that more than one book could have the same cover.....

  3. I'm always amazed that you catch these. I noticed one the other day and meant to write it down for you---oh yes now I remember-Still Life by Joy Fielding and Keeper of Light and Dust by Natasha Mostert. I can't remember who had mentioned it on my blog but I had to laugh because I hadn't until then. lol.

  4. Isn't there another cover with red Shoes? I remember seeing something but can't remember the book.

Avis I don't know how you do this but you have a good eye for this. Love seeing this on your blog.

  5. It's weird that the person who took this picture would give it to so many books. You would think the first book to use a picture would own it......

  6. What really bothers me about that new one is that the title is far too close to unreadable. That is not good :/

  7. When I was a child, I was obsessed with red shoes ... they are quite striking!

  8. Why does this cross over happen? Is it the same publisher for each image? Is there only a small pool of book cover photographers? Is the industry so insulated that they don't know when others are already using that image? Are book printers really so unimaginative as to reuse the same images over and over again knowingly?
I am dumbfounded by this happening and had no idea about it before you started posting about it. Thanks for that... although it has made me a bit cynical about book makers now.
Can you or any of your readers explain this weird phenomenon for me?

  10. Now you've got others' eyes trained on these 'lookalike covers'!! How about "Love junkie" by Rachel Resnick? Although it omits the dress & shoes, it reminded me of these covers when I saw it. Doesn't look like a book I'd read mind you...
