Friday Finds (April 3)

What great books have you added to your wish list this week? Share your Friday Finds at Should Be Reading.

I love love love the cover for Undercover by Beth Kephart, so I was happy to read Lenore’s favourable review of this book at Presenting Lenore, which she concludes by saying “If I could go back in time and give this novel to my 8th grade self, I would. My adult self is certainly in love with it.”

I can’t do justice to Trish’s review of The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan in a few words, so you’re just going to have to head over to Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin’? and read it for yourself. Suffice it to say she’s convinced me that I want to read this book!

Both Tara at Books and Cooks and Sheri at Bookopolis had great things to say about The World in Half by Cristina HenrĂquez. Tara was “entranced by the beauty that I found in this author’s first novel” (read the rest of her review), while Sheri says it is “a beautifully written story that has a certain underlying magic to it” (read the rest of her review).

Finally, Fleurfisher mentioned Mrs. Woolf and the Servants by Alison Light in her Library Loot post at Fleur Fisher Reads this week. According to the Telegraph, this is “a compelling portrait of how rich and poor women of this time were locked into a strange and pernicious symbiosis, and a vital warning against social inequality.”

    Thanks, Alyce.

Mary, I hadn't even noticed the recurring blue in the covers until you mentioned it!

Crystal, I know what you mean! My list is miles long and that's on top of the heaps of books I own that I haven't read yet!

I hope you enjoy The World in Half, Lenore! I'll keep an eye out for your review.

I know what you mean, Wendy!

Amy, I checked out your review and it's great! I now want to read Beth's book more than ever.

Thanks, Jen. At this stage they are still just on a wish list...

Tara, that's interesting because it's been out in paperback in Canada since last September.

Kathy, it sounds like it would be worth buying!

Diane, I hope you enjoy it!

  13. Thank you so much for noticing. I loved that UC cover, too. It wasn't at all what the publisher started with. And I'm not always that lucky. But that time I was.
