Teaser Tuesdays (September 30)

Should Be Reading hosts the Teaser Tuesdays weekly event.

My modified rules are as follows:

Grab your current read. Pick two or three “teaser” sentences more or less at random from the book, anywhere on the page. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your teaser from… that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given! (Please avoid spoilers!) (Read the official Teaser Tuesday rules.)

My teaser:

“How do you say goodbye to your children when you’re not sure when you’ll see them again? A quick embrace, an almost polite kiss on the cheek, was how she held it together. It must have seemed cold to them, but she was in the cab before she knew it, the three of them standing in the driveway” (p. 218).

This is from The Richest Season by Maryann McFadden.

  1. Oh good! Then I won't feel bad if I do it, too :-)

  2. Why did the narrator feel they would never see their children again

  3. Hmm, well actually she didn't feel like she'd never see them again, she just wasn't sure when she would see them again. But I guess you'll have to read the book to find out more!

  6. Thanks, Iliana and Dar! I had more trouble than usual finding a good teaser this week, so I'm glad you enjoyed my selection!

  7. Ooh, good point. The better the teaser, the more people want to read the book...which is kind of the point, huh?

  8. It's a great one, Avis.

What mom could read that and not need to read the book to find out what it's all about !?!?
