Teaser Tuesdays (September 2)
Should Be Reading hosts the Teaser Tuesdays weekly event.
The rules are as follows:
Grab your current read. Let the book fall open to a random page. Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from… that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given! (Please avoid spoilers!)
I’m going to cheat a little, since my sentences don’t fall between lines 7 and 12... Oh, and I have to admit they’re not totally random either. Here they are:
“People recognized you or they didn’t, and it was unrelated to knowing you. Knowing you could be your name or the street you lived on, your father’s job. Recognizing you was understanding you had thoughts in your head, finding the same things funny or excruciating, remembering what you’d said months or even years after you’d said it” (p. 66).
I seem to be having trouble following the rules today, since I just realized this quote contains three sentences instead of two. But it’s a good quote and that third sentence is necessary! It’s from American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld, which happens to be released today.

LOL I rarely follow the rules!
ReplyDeleteGood to know I'm not the only one!
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser, btw I usually swerve around the lines 7-12 rule. All the good quotes are farther down the page lol!
ReplyDeleteThis one was actually higher up on the page!
ReplyDeleteEh--rules are only guidelines, right?
ReplyDeleteExactly! I have a feeling I'm going to continue to break the Teaser Tuesday rules in weeks to come...!
