Six weird and random things about me

I was tagged by Trish at Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin’? for the six quirky things about me meme. (This is the first time I’ve been tagged for a meme, so thank you, Trish!) The rules are:
  1. Link to the person who tagged you
  2. Post the rules on your blog
  3. Write six random things/unspectacular quirks about yourself
  4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them
  5. Let each person you have tagged know by leaving a comment on their blog
  6. Let the tagger know when your entry is posted.
It was quite fun to think up some weird things about myself that I was willing to share with the general public... Here goes:
  1. I’m paranoid about not being able to find the washrooms in restaurants (in part because I have a bladder the size of a pea). This means I tend to ask the other people I’m eating with where they are, even if they’ve never been to the restaurant before either!
  2. I think tomatoes are inedible unless they’re cooked.
  3. I hate talking on the phone when someone else is in the same room with me, especially if I’m talking to a stranger (when ordering food or making an appointment, for example).
  4. I’m geographically challenged. This means I’m terrified of getting lost when taking a bus I’ve never taken before. Luckily I’m good at reading maps!
  5. My partner, Mr. B, and I have kept a list of all the movies we’ve seen together. In nearly 11 years, we’ve seen 532 movies.
  6. I’ve considered getting a tattoo on my left shoulder to “even out” the birthmark on my right shoulder (which is vaguely in the shape of a turtle).
Now the question is who to tag next? I have no idea who has already done this meme, so apologies in advance if you’ve been tagged before (or hate this kind of thing). I hereby tag:
  1. Bonnie at Redlady’s Reading Room
  2. Cindy at Cindy’s Love of Books
  3. Iliana at Bookgirl’s Nightstand
  4. Michele at A Reader’s Respite
  5. Donna at BookBound
  6. Sandra at Fresh Ink Books

  1. I have a bladder the size of a pea, too. I know where the bathroom is in every grocery store within a 5 mile radius of us. I doubt I've seen 532 movies in my whole life.

  2. I think that's fascinating that you and your partner have kept a list of all the movies you've seen together. Makes me think I should do something similar...

  4. I'm just the opposite. I hate cooked tomatoes. Not a big fan of pasta sauce.

  5. I love these lists!

I'm with Trish - it's so cool that you've kept a list of all the movies you've seen together.

I have very mixed feelings about talking on the phone. I basically don't like it, because I would much prefer face to face. But that's not always possible, so I do talk on the phone, and sometimes for an hour at a time, which is odd since I wouldn't call myself a phone person.

When we were growing up, my sister always made me call strangers (ordering from catalogues, etc.) for her.

  6. Glad to hear others share my eccentricities!

Bermudaonion, I almost mentioned that too, that I have a great memory for where bathrooms are!

Trish, if you do decide to make a list of movies, IMDb has a great feature where you can log in and make lists easily.

Cindy, I'm glad you were into being tagged!

Nicole, my feeling is that all the veggies in the nightshade family (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, etc.) must be cooked to be edible, with the exception of green bell peppers!

Shana, yeah, I'm not a phone person, although behind closed doors I've been known to yak for hours. My parents and sisters all live hours away, so I don't have much choice if I want to keep in touch with them. I love that you made those calls for your sister!

  7. What started you on keeping the list of movies?

  8. Good question, Serena! I love making lists in general and B, my partner, loves making lists of his top movies, so at some point, a couple of years into our relationship, we decided we should keep track of all the movies we've ever watched together. We initially did it from memory on paper, but then discovered IMDb, which makes it easy to add in new movies as you watch them. I'll have to ask him if he remembers more specifically what prompted us to do this!

  10. I have a list of all the DVD's I own but only because I have been known to purchase multiples before. Just can't seem to remember if I already own it on DVD.

You should start a movie blog so we can see your reviews.

  11. Ramya, glad to hear I'm not the only one! I've actually met someone else who feels this way (we shared an office at one point, which was handy, since the other could sympathize).

Ti, my partner suggested this too! Frankly, I'm behind on book reviews, so I can't imagine taking on movie reviews as well!

  12. lol-our bladders must be related-I'm the same in restaurants or malls. I have to know where the bathroom is everywhere.

I'm with you on the phone one too. I don't like people listening to what I'm saying at all. I go in another room all the time.

  13. Ah thank you for the tag! I'll try to get to this one soon. I've done one before but I'm sure I can come up with more weird things about me - hahah
