It’s been an age since I’ve posted a “similar titles” post (in fact this is only my third), but when I saw that Random House is about to publish a novel entitled The Best Laid Plans by Lynn Schnurnberger (in February 2011), I immediately thought of the movie by the same title (minus the the) directed by Mike Barker. (According to IMDb, David Blair is currently directing another movie entitled Best Laid Plans.) There’s also an improv web sitcom by the same name.
What do you think?
*I don’t mean to pick on Ms. Schnurnberger—I have nothing against her or her book!
Holy cow! That's a lot of books with the same title!
ReplyDeleteWow - I'd venture to say we don't need another book by that title ;)
ReplyDeleteI saw that movie with Reese. Though I don't recall anything about it.
The only book I know there is the Terry Fallis book (and the one I immediately thought of when I saw your blog post title) and that one is sitting in the midst of my huge TBR pile. Very interesting post!
ReplyDeleteDang! That is a whole library of books with the same title. So much for originality!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say NO! I can't believe how many books there are out there with that title...so original!!
ReplyDeleteWow. That's a bit crazy. You could spend an entire year just reading books with that title!
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly a popular title! It looks like romance authors are especially fond of it.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was the same as Kathy's. Holy Cow, I kind of feel bad for the author's who may have been thinking what a unique title they had. I would imagine coming up with an original title is pretty difficult.
ReplyDeleteYou've got to wonder if they've never heard of google... and maybe might want to check and see if a title is way, way over used before they decide to recycle it again.
ReplyDelete. . .of Mice and Men
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh ... that is crazy!!! And to think I've never read (or heard of) one of those books!
ReplyDeletegotta love some of those romance covers!! oh, and the vintage nora roberts is pure gold! as for 'the best laid plans', i'd say publishers should put this title to bed.
ReplyDeleteincidentally, i'm reading 'of mice and men' with my 11th grade class right now. :)
Oh my! That's a lot of books with the same title!
ReplyDeleteYou out did yourself with this one. WOW, seriously WOW.
ReplyDeleteOuch, I had no idea so many books shared the same title. I really think another title could have been in order here!
ReplyDeleteEveryone loves Robbie Burns 'To A Mouse'! They cannae resist! Even Steinbeck fell for it — Of Mice and Men could totally have been called The Best Laid Plans!
