Getting Back on the Horse + More Similar Covers

Hello, book blogosphere (*waves shyly*). It’s been a while. I didn’t mean to disappear for two plus weeks without warning. (Sorry about that.) I just kinda fell off the blogging horse and have been having trouble getting back on again. I’ve been distracted by frustrating things like the heat and work and computer crashes and various other personal dramas. But I’ve been reading some great books and I’m working on a few reviews and other posts. Here’s what’s coming up soon:
I also have a few reviews waiting in the wings that my sister Brogan wrote for the following books: Oh and of course I have to tell you all about the new books that have come my way, either by mail or because I just couldn’t resist buying a few books here and there...

*While you’re waiting for my post about Cecil’s visit to Montreal, go read Cindy’s post and enter her giveaway for a copy of one of Cecil’s other books, The Queen of Cool!

In the meantime, I leave you with another lookalike duo: The Breakdown Lane by Jacquelyn Mitchard and Gemma by Meg Tilly.

The Breakdown Lane was first published with this cover in 2005 by Harper (according to Amazon), while Gemma came out earlier this year with St. Martin’s Griffin.

  3. Yeah, life does that. I try to keep a few little things written in advance so I can drop them in when I get overwhelmed but that doesn't always work. Anyway, welcome back. I missed seeing those Similar Covers posts.

  4. Hi! Great to see you posting again! Life can certainly be a PITA! No worries, sometimes a break is needed. And the heat is ruthless. I don't like it either. How's Cairo?

So many books, many, but not all, by women writers, have bare feet on the cover. I wonder why that is?

I'm looking forward to your future posts :o)

I cannot wait! Will you be attending again?

  8. Thanks, Kathy!

Trisha, I loved Vanishing (and posted my review earlier today). I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I'll keep an eye out for your review.

Leslie, I keep telling myself I should write posts in advance, but I never seem to be able to get ahead! I've got lots more "similar cover" posts coming up!

Hiya, Amy! I've got more pics of Cairo coming up too! (She's doing fine, although she's complaining about the drop in temperature recently!) I think, unfortunately, there are a lot of covers for books written by women that are fairly generic, hence the multiple covers with bare feet on them...

iubookgirl, I'm so glad you're back and best of luck rebuilding your blog!

Lori, I saw that they had announced the date for BBC 2011! I have no idea if I'll go again next year, but I'm definitely considering it.

    Tiina and Kathleen, thank you!
