Similar Covers: Woman with Pink Gloves

For some reason, I had Ask Again Later by Jill A. Davis in one of my “potential lookalikes” folders, but I was still pretty surprised when Kathy at Bermudaonion’s Weblog reviewed a book with the exact same image on the cover: The Stuff That Never Happened by Maddie Dawson.

Davis’s debut was published by Harper in 2008; Dawson’s debut came out yesterday with Crown Publishing (a Random House subsidiary).

  2. There has to be some law against this right! I mean look how similar they both are!

  3. That's crazy! It's the exact same picture!! Just different sweater colors. Compare her hair. I wonder if the authors are aware of that?

  5. I should be used to it but it still surprises me when such similar covers are used. I guess no one researches to find out if the cover has been used recently.

I love the colors on both!

  7. That's funny! You'd think publishers would come up with some new ideas for covers! I just got Maddie Dawson's book and can't wait to read it though :)

  9. Lol, it's the exact same image! I wonder if it has anything whatsoever to do with the plot.

  11. Wow, your eye for these things always amaze me! These two are similar even in the way they were used for the cover. It's so close I can't even pick a favorite.

  12. I always feel cheated as a reader..that the book is not special enough to get its own cover.

  13. Wow ... that is odd that such a distinctive image would be used twice.

  15. Oh gosh, I hate it when this happens. It's a cover peeve of mine. Several years ago the exact same image was printed on an edition of a class (slips my mind at the moment) and a popular murder mystery. Drove me nuts.
