For my third post about covers that feature hands, here are a bunch where two hands are used to form a heart. The first two, Girl Goddess #9 by Francesca Lia Block (which appears to have been first published in 1996 by Harper Collins Canada) and The World I Made for Her by Thomas Moran (first published by Riverhead Books in 1998), actually use the same image.
The other four are: Landing by Emma Donoghue (my favourite of the bunch), Just Like Heaven by Barbara Bretton, The Heart Is Not a Size by Beth Kephart and Heart Full of Lies: A True Story of Desire and Death by Ann Rule.
Very cool covers...last night I noticed that a book I checked out for my son had the same cover as one that he read two years ago...you're making me look at covers in a whole different light!
ReplyDeleteThose are all similar - I guess a heart made out of hands is in right now.
ReplyDeletelove this feature and always stop by to see what you've come up with. impressive list this time around! i've noticed some trending with feet lately...or maybe i'm just late to the party and feet are so 2009! :)
ReplyDeleteI do like the hearts formed by the hands ... and so do lots of book designers apparently!
ReplyDeleteI have noticed this heart with hands image a few times now. Thanks for your comment on my Cover Attraction post. Nice that the publisher would bother to make a comment on my blog but I hope they weren't insulted. Funny that you are the Queen of copycat cover features with dozens of posts on them, and I get 'told' by a publishing house on my third post. Not much to worry about though-you're the only one who see it. All my commenters went to the A-z post today and missed this one.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm still shaking my head about that Penguin idea. Hoping to post a few thoughts on The Blue Flower on Saturday.
Very interesting covers, Avis! Hard to say which I like the best, but I think Landing and The Heart is not a Size.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteThought this post was funny! I've never though about this before (similar book covers). Great post!
Looks like it's getting harder and harder to be original with book covers. =) Great finds.
ReplyDeleteLove the covers! (You always find the best stuff Avis). Thanks
ReplyDeleteStaci, you're such a tease! I want to know what books you're talking about!
ReplyDeleteKathy, actually only half of these books are recent publications...
Nat, it's funny you should mention feet because I have a feet lookalike pair coming up soon!
Jenners, I gotta say I like it too. And other than the first two (which I don't actually like), all the other covers are distinctive, in my opinion.
Sandra, yeah, that's the first time I see a publisher respond and they sounded a wee bit defensive! (Although I can understand why they'd be put out.)
Donna, those are my faves too!
Thanks, evifsight, Linda and Diane!
Sorry, Linda and Diane, I didn't mean to not bold your names! (I was replying to comments rather late last night!)
