Mailbox Monday + Books Bought (October 19)

Mailbox Monday buttonBooks Bought button

I’m so excited that I received a copy of Simon’s Cat by Simon Tofield in the mail today, thanks to the generous folks at Hachette. I loved the movies featuring Simon’s cat and from the little that I’ve seen of the book so far (I peeked at the first dozen pages), I’m going to love the book too.

I also received Bundles of Letters Including A, V and Epsilon: Poems by Arlene Ang and Valerie Fox not long ago, and it took me a while to figure out that this was one of my wins from a BBAW scavenger hunt. Many thanks to Arlene Ang for sending me this book. I don’t normally review poetry, but I might have to make an exception this time!

I also completely forgot to mention that Cindy gave me How It Ends by Laura Wiess during our September get-together. (I also failed to blog about that get-together, but you can read all about it at Cindy’s Love of Books or Better with Books.)

Finally, I bought myself two books recently: The Margarets by Sheri S. Tepper and Original Love: Poems by Molly Peacock (inspired in part by the fact that I’ve started to write poetry again).

  2. Oh! I got Simon's cat on Friday, and I LOVE the book! I was afraid that the passage from movie to comic wouldn't be as funny, but it absolutely is!

  11. The Margarets is the only Sheri Tepper I've read so far. I thought it was good with some weaknesses, and it made me want to read her earlier work which I think may have been stronger. Let me know what you think of it!
