Teaser Tuesdays (June 30)
Should Be Reading hosts the Teaser Tuesdays weekly event.
My modified rules are as follows:
Grab your current read. Pick two or three “teaser” sentences more or less at random from the book, anywhere on the page. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your teaser from… that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given! (Please avoid spoilers!) (Read the official Teaser Tuesday rules.)
My teaser:
“The truth is I’ve never leaned to ride a bicycle, because, among other reasons, it is something you can never forget. This is who I am: someone who simultaneously longs for and fears the commitment of remembering” (p. 3).
This is from The Opposite of Love by Julie Buxbaum.

That is a seriously fantastic tease.
ReplyDelete(I'll admit that I generally only like the teasers if people give me a little frame of reference about what the plot's going to be about... I don't want to have to go hunting all over the place to find out if it's a mystery or a romance or whatever... but that teaser, in and of itself, knocked my socks off. I'm going to go hunting for more info now. Thanks!)
Nice teaser. I can't ride a bike, either (I confess). Here's my teaser.
ReplyDeleteOh what a confession - a great teaser - really works!
ReplyDeleteSassy
:)
Fantastic teaser! I wanna know more!! Thanks for the Tease!
ReplyDeleteThe teaser is interesting. I'd just hope that the main character doesn't continue to hit the nail on the head.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great teaser, but kind of sad.
ReplyDeleteVery well written teaser and a good choice, it does make me want to check out the book!
ReplyDeleteI too can't ride a bike!
ReplyDeleteLike this teaser!
Teasers/Whereabouts: Tender Graces by Kathryn Magendie
That's short and to the point...just the kind of teaser I like!
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser. I have that book sitting on my shelf, it looks really good. Hope you're enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteThough, I do agree you can never forget how to ride a bike. But as I grew up, I forgot...well got scared, of riding my bike without holding the handles. I use to be able to do it all the time as a kid, now I'm terrified that I'll fall off and break something.

I love this teaser..
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful teaser. Although I did have to re-learn how to ride a bike after I got to be an adult. So maybe that's one commitment she really doesn't have to worry about!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to think seriously about this quote you gave us - fears the committment of remembering. Hopefully, this is one you are going to review. I'd like to know a little more.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a great teaser.I'm at least glad to know now that I'm not the only person who can't ride a bike!
ReplyDeleteTerrific teaser! I just love that -- fearing the commitment of remembering. That sounds awfully neurotic to me, hee!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, my own teaser is at Bookishgal
Sounds philosophical. Here is mine
ReplyDeleteHow funny that we used the same book for our Teaser Tuesday posts!
ReplyDeleteWonderful teaser! Sounds like a fascinating character.
ReplyDeleteI really like that passage. I actually never learned to ride a bicycle either, but in my case it was just lack of opportunity :P
ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting teaser. Insightful.
