Friday Finds (June 5)

What great books have you added to your wish list this week? Share your Friday Finds at Should Be Reading.

Another six books made it onto my wish list this week:

I first spotted The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf in a Shelf Awareness newsletter; Kristi at Books and Needlepoint also featured it in her Waiting on Wednesday post this week.

Hiding in the Spotlight: A Musical Prodigy’s Story of Survival, 1941-1946 by Greg Dawson was reviewed by Gwen at Literary License (who happens to be related by adoption to both the subject and the author of this book!).

The Invention of Everything Else by Samantha Hunt was reviewed by Annabel at gaskella. (She compares it to The Time Traveler’s Wife, one of my favourite books.)

The Earth Hums in B Flat by Mari Strachan was reviewed by dovegreyreader. (She calls this one “unmissable.”)

The Wave in the Mind: Talks and Essays on the Writer, the Reader, and the Imagination by Ursula K. Leguin was recommended to me by Brogan in response to my review of Pathologies: A Life in Essays by Susan Olding.

The Memory Garden
by Rachel Hore was reviewed by pinkilili at Sandals and Snow.

  12. Great finds! I'm definitely interested in The Weight of Silence. I had seen it in the Shelf Awareness newsletter too.

  13. I loved The Time Traveler's Wife so maybe I ought to take a look at The Invention of Everything Else.
    Here's my Friday Finds

  14. I tried to get The Weight of Silence from Shelf Awareness, but the site kept saying my e-mail address wasn't valid. I tried several times and even tried a different one and that wasn't valid either. Who knows, maybe I wasn't destined for the book! I am glad you got it though. I am eager to see what you think. :)

  15. Thanks, everyone, for your comments!

Heather, I hadn't even noticed until you pointed that out!

Rebecca, what a bummer that you weren't able to request The Weight of Silence! I don't actually have any of these books; they are just additions to my wish list.
