Teaser Tuesdays (April 7)
Should Be Reading hosts the Teaser Tuesdays weekly event.
My modified rules are as follows:
Grab your current read. Pick two or three “teaser” sentences more or less at random from the book, anywhere on the page. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your teaser from… that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given! (Please avoid spoilers!) (Read the official Teaser Tuesday rules.)
My first teaser:
“On the way, I’m listening to a tape that I found at a yard sale, which is exhorting me to visualize my wishes going up to the sky in the form of pink balloons. I probably shouldn’t even try to do such a thing while driving, because I can’t seem to get my balloons off the ground. I keep visualizing them on the road right ahead of me, where I’m about to run over them” (p. 65).*
This is from The Wishing Year by Noelle Oxenhandler.
My second teaser:
“It was hot and things were out of whack. Doorknobs that everyone swore were on the right side of the doors were actually on the left. Butter melted in the refrigerator. Things weren’t being said and were left to stew in the air” (p. 5).
This is from Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen.
*Note that this quote comes from an ARC and therefore may have been changed for final printing.

ReplyDeleteThis is my post
I contemplated buying Garden Spells for a long time, and I can't remember whether I did or not. You're going to send me on a search to check my shelves.
ReplyDeleteOoh I want to know what is going on in Garden Spells and why everything is opposite of how it normally is.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed both of SAA's books.
ReplyDeleteI liked Garden Spells and have Wishing Year somewhere on my shelves.

ReplyDeleteBoth teasers are great - I love the visualization of those pink balloons. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Teaser! ~ Wendi
GREAT teasers! I especially liked the first one :-)
ReplyDeleteBoth teasers are really great! I might have to see about picking up Garden Spells though...
ReplyDeleteI love these Tuesday Teasers, but they are very bad for my wish list. Not that I'm really complaining. :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are good ones!
I'll be curious to read what you have to say about THE WISHING YEAR. I read it last spring/early summer, but haven't seen it on a lot of blogs and review sites.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for your comments, and apologies (again) for replying so late! I loved both of these books! The quote from The Wishing Year made me laugh out loud.
