Mailbox Monday (March 30)
It’s a bit late to be announcing that I got In the Woods by Tana French since I already mentioned the book in my Tuesday Teaser post nearly a week ago, but it was the only new addition to my shelves this past week. I was very happy to find a copy at my local second-hand bookstore. (I also bought the sixth book in the Ladies’ Detective Agency series, In the Company of Cheerful Ladies, but when I got home I realized I already had it. Argh! Luckily it only cost me a dollar!)
What did you find in your mailbox this past week? For other Mailbox Monday posts, head over to Marcia’s blog, The Printed Page.

I enjoyed In The Woods. It was nice to read a literary crime novel. Looking forward to your eventual thoughts. I was psyched to see all the books I got last week, but I must admit I was thrilled to receive the new Lisa See.
ReplyDeleteHaven't read that one, but it looks nice.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading :D
I buy books I already own all the time. One of these days I will figure it all out and stop. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to reading In the Woods one of these days. Preferrably sooner than later. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me too, although not as often since I started keeping a list of all my TBR books that I own. Still, occasionally a book sounds too good to pass up and I buy it, only to realize I already have a copy. It must mean I really want to read the book, right?
I didn't realize that the Ladies Detective Agency was up to six books!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Mailbox! ~ Wendi
In the Woods is languishing in my TBR pile. I had a slow week too.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear your review on In The Woods.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading it. See you soon.
I just wanted to let you know that I bestowed the friendship award to you. You can see it under awards on my blog. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteI will be looking forward to your review of In the Woods...I have heard mixed thoughts of this one. I think that In the Company of Cheerful Ladies was my favorite so far of that series...enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI hope to read In the Woods someday. It sounds like a good one. I end up buying duplicates sometimes too. It usually happens because I haven't read the book yet. I've got so many books in the TBR pile that I'm bound to duplicate once in a while.
ReplyDeleteTana French is great!! Just out of curiosity Avis, which bookstore did you go to?
ReplyDeleteIn The Woods is one of those that seems a little too creepy for me. I'll check back with your review to see what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your book. It is a good one. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's supposed to be a fantastic read. enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about In the Woods. My husband has The Likeness I think it's called, but hasn't read it yet.

I really want to read In the Woods someday. I recieved Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Home and Evernight by Claudia Gray.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by the mailbox this week. Enjoy your book!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for your comments and apologies for taking a week to respond!
ReplyDeleteNicole, I'll look out for your review of the Lisa See novel!
Thanks, Blodeuedd!
Kristen and Wendy, I find I often buy books that are part of a series more than once, because I have trouble remembering which ones I already own if I haven't read them yet. Plus this book is in perfect condition and was only a dollar, so I figured it was worth buying, even if it turned out that I already owned it!
Wendi, the series is actually up to eight books now, I think. And I must remember that I already own the first seven!
Kathy, I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it when you get around to reading it.
Cindy, are you interested in reading it? I can pass it on to you once I've written my review... Thank you so much for the award! As you already know, I gave you one too!
Jo-Jo, I must say I haven't read any bad reviews of this book yet, only good ones! I'd be curious to see what people didn't like about it.
Terri, exactly! As I said to Kristen and Wendy, it's especially hard when I haven't read them and they are part of a series (especially since I tend not to read the back covers of series books).
Sheri, it's a store just around the corner from my place in St-Henri on Notre-Dame Street. Not really worth a detour to get to (their stock is fairly limited), but then again they had two copies of this book, which amazed me!
Alyce, I must admit it was a little bit too creepy for me!
Thanks, Mari, Serena and Anna!
Jen (Ladytink), Evernight sounds quite creepy! I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks, Marcia!
