Friday Find (December 12) + an announcement of sorts

What great books have you discovered this week? Share your Friday Finds at Should Be Reading.

Despite the fact that I heard about Fixing Shadows by Susan Barrett from Tara at Books and Cooks, who didn’t give this book a glowing review, I’m intrigued. I love upstairs/downstairs Victorian tales. (And the cover of this book is so attractive!) I also found an interview with the author on the Vulpes Libris.

On a completely different note, some of you may have noticed that I’m not posting as regularly as before—and I’m certainly not commenting on other folks’ blogs as much as I use to. December is proving to be a very busy month both workwise and otherwise, and I don’t have as much time to devote to blogging. I’m still working on my bloggy boundaries (see Bethany’s excellent post on this subject). However, I do have lots of plans for the New Year... À suivre, as the French would say. In the meantime, apologies for my scant participation in the book blogging community!

  3. Don't stress the holiday season! You're smart to know (and respect) your limits.

  4. December kind of slows us down. EXams next week and I am not looking forward to it at all. I hate marking answer sheets!

    :D

  5. Thanks for posting the interview - very cool! You know, it wasn't a glowing review because I didn't love the book like I thought I would, but am very glad I read it. It's a quirky take on the victorian novel, in my opinion. If you're interested, definitely read it!

  9. Thank you, Ti! Mostly it's the reviewing that I'm not keeping up with (at all)...

Sorry to disappoint, Kathy and Nicole, but nope, no news of that nature! (Thank goodness!)

    Thanks, Dawn!

Good luck with those exams, Gautami!

You're welcome, Tara. I'm definitely interested in the book!

Thanks, Amy! I'm in awe at how much you do!

You and me both, Ania! (Love your mismatched socks, by the way!)

  10. I love the cover! I look forward to hearing what you think of it whenever you get around to reading it.
And I can relate, this month is keeping me busier than I'd like too. Hope you have a lovely holiday.

  11. Oy, you said a mouthful. I'm suffering a little blogging burnout right now myself :-)

  12. Thanks, Tanabata. I don't actually own the book (yet), but it's on my wish list... Happy holidays to you too!

Marie, yeah, that's it exactly. Book reviewing burnout, more specifically, as I'm managing to do other types of blogging...
