Friday Finds (November 7)
What great books have you discovered this week? Share your Friday Finds at Should Be Reading.
As I’m sure many of you already know, one of my favourite blogs is 1st Books: Stories of How Writers Get Started. The latest guest post is by Liza Nelson, author of Playing Botticelli. I couldn’t find a single blog review of this book, but if Liza’s post is anything to go on, it should be good! Also mentioned in her post is For Keeps: Women Tell the Truth about Their Bodies, Growing Older, and Acceptance edited by Victoria Zackheim, which Liza contributed to. I love personal essays, so this one is going on my ever-expanding wish list too.
Love and Biology at the Center of the Universe by Jennie Shortridge was reviewed by Dawn at She Is Too Fond of Books, as part of Jennie’s TLC Book Tour—it sounds like a great read! Jennie also guest posted about the power of women readers on Dawn’s blog and made a few book suggestions. The one that piqued my interest the most is Church of the Dog by Kaya McLaren, which is “a radiant novel that honors the broken among us,” according to bestselling author Luanne Rice. Sounds good to me!

ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Shana! I'm looking forward to your review of Love & Biology. I have to get my hands on a copy of For Keeps! I think I need two wish lists: a someday list and a gotta-have-now list...
