Friday Finds (October 17)

What great books have you discovered this week? Share your Friday Finds at Should Be Reading.

Usually I mention interesting book reviews in my Friday Finds posts, but this week has been so crazy work-wise, that I haven’t had time to read many reviews. However, I did come across a couple of collections that caught my attention:

Ladytink at Up Close & Personal with Ladytink mentioned The Faery Reel: Tales from the Twilight Realm edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling in her Teaser Tuesdays post this week. It contains a story by Patricia A. McKillip, one of my favourite authors, which is part of the reason I took note. The other reason is the cover, of course!

Another interesting-sounding book I came across this week is Fathering Daughters: Reflections by Men edited by DeWitt Henry and James Alan McPherson. As the Amazon product description says, “Literally hundreds of books cast light on the mother-daughter bond, but the relationship between a girl and her other parent remains stubbornly hidden in shadow.” This collection of essays by fathers seeks to rectify that imbalance. Rick Bass, another writer I’ve enjoyed in the past, contributes to this book.

  1. I love the cover on Faery Reel and I think I could buy it just for that cover-lol.

  2. You did Friday Finds after all!

The book about fathers and daughters sounds like something I'd like. I adore my dad and have always been fascinated by the father-daughter relationship.
